AbstractThis report discusses the opportunities and challenges inherent in cooperative agreements between for-profit companies to collaborate in joint ventures, joint research and development, technology exchange agreements, and sourcing relationships in the technology sector. These relationships can also include universities and other institutions. The report discusses the benefits of developing countries and emerging industries in becoming a part of these partnerships, discusses key lessons for success in these kinds of partnerships, and the role policy makers and international organizations can play to help ensure the success of these kinds of partnerships for all stakeholders involved.
