Abstract
Syllabus of the course, Social Issues in Engineering, developed and taught by Dr. Michelle K. Bothwell of Oregon State University's School of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering. The course focuses on the ways interlocking systems of oppression impact professional engineers' lives. The course looks at the experiences of diverse groups within engineering, include personal and social effects of oppression, internalization of oppression and resistance. The syllabus includes a class schedule and readings, a short description of required assignments, and a description of the goals and focus of the course.
