AbstractThe author discusses how members of the research ethics community has begun to realize the need to cultivate an ethical science culture as the best way to promote responsible conduct of research. However, to do so also requires us to pay attention to how ethical norms are emboddied and transmitted in a scientific culture. The author indruces the Scientific Virtues Project, which as been developing theory and curricula that follows this approach and has been running a national survey of scientists to better understand the place of ethical values in science.
