Jerry is an infectious disease researcher who is working on a study which will focus on understanding the transmission of HIV between gay and straight populations. In this study, he will survey men who are HIV positive and are sexually active with partners of both sexes. When trying to develop partnerships with gay community leaders, he meets with a very lukewarm response. Jerry manages to complete is research, and as he re-reads the grant terms in preparation of writing his final report, he notices that he is required to disseminate his findings to his community partners. Jerry's findings cause outrage in the gay community as they claim it does little to further public health and will only reinforce negative stereotypes. Some of them hold a press conference, which is video-taped and sent to Jerry's university president and to the funding agency. What should Jerry do?
