Abstract
This engineering ethics course is taught at the University of Santa Cruz Jack Baskin School of Engineering by Dr. Gene Moriarty. it looks at ethical theories and their application in the practice of engineering, such as issues of safety and liability, professional responsibilities to clients and employers, legal obligations, environmental issues and socal issues. The class seeks to help students develop their moral imagination, independent ethical sensitivity, and their ability to ethically analyze problems and issues that arise in the course of engineering practice through the use of case studies. The course web site includes a copy of the course syllabus, descriptions of major class assignments, course handouts, notes and PowerPoints used in the course, as well as copies of supplemental readings.
