AbstractDuring the spring of 1995, the owner of the New York Yankees signed baseball star Daryl Strawberry onto the team, despite the fact that five months earlier Mr. Strawberry had tested positive for cocaine use. Some criticized the New York Yankees for signing Strawberry onto the team, saying that it sent the worst possible message to children. George Steinbrenner, the owner of the New York Yankees defended his actions, saying that this may be the motivation Mr. Strawberry needs to stay away from drugs.
