AbstractThis report put out in 2001 by the U.S. National Advisory Bioethics Commission looks at some of the major guidelines in place covering the use of human research subjects, and discusses a proposal for oversight, methods for ensuring protection, how to assess the risks and potential benefits of research, as well as evaluating the vulnerability of potential research subjects, as well as issues of informed consent and the role of Institutional Review Boards.
