AbstractDiscusses a number of scandals that rocked the Japanese business world in 1991, including that of Nomura Securities Co. who had provided funds for the head of the Inagawa-kai cirme syndicate to buy up the stocks of Tokyu Electric Train Co., and the regular mistreatment and overworking of Japanese employers. Though some ethics reforms are supposedly being made, the author discusses how the culture of big business is blinding politicians to the need for major reforms in this area.
