AbstractThe article reports on Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics' dial-an-ethicist project, a bench-side consultation service for biomedical researchers. It further reports that the service is designed to help researchers identify the ethical and social issues that arise in their work and aims to complement the bodies that regulate human and animal studies. It then differentiates the service from institutional review boards. It highlights how the service helped Joachim Hallmayer to pursue with their California Autism Twin Study.
