| Abstract | The article focuses on the efforts of researchers to come up with alternatives to institutional review boards (IRBs) that would determine if a proposed research is ethically sound. It mentions the problems encountered by most researchers in many countries due to the presence of a complex network of local ethics committees that will handle the approval of research on humans. It also stresses on the emergence of commercial IRBs as options to local ethics committees preferred by researchers, since these commercial IRBs provide faster feedbacks and thorough reviews on proposed clinical trials. |
