Abstract

The article reports on a protocol which has been developed by the U.K. Panel for Research Integrity in Health and Biomedical Sciences. The protocol, which is a step by step guide to investigating and acting on misconduct allegations, was developed in an effort to to try and standardize procedures which are used for investigating allegations of research misconduct and to ensure that cases related to research misconduct are handled fairly. A discussion of the history of the panel, which was established in 2006, is presented.
