Abstract

GFP Bunny is an artwork for the year 2000 by Edward Kac. Kac worked with scientists in France to insert Green Fluorescent Protein which occurs in jellyfish into the genome of a rabbit, who he and his family named Alba. Kac sees Alba as a piece of transgenic art, and expresses his belief in the need for respect for animals, and that they must be treated with great care.
