Abstract

Intellectual property can be an important asset for academic institutions. Good data management practices are important for capture, development and protection of intellectual property assets, and are especially important when research is being funded by a commercial, governmental, or philinthropic institution, as good data management may be crucial to figuring out issues of intellectual property once the project is complete.
