AbstractThis case study excerpt from "The Structural Engineer's Standard of Care" describes what happens when a structural engineer discovers an error in design of a portion of a steel light tower to be built as a part of a stadium. The engineer notifies his client, the architect of the stadium, about this problem and designs a solution. However, the engineer was unaware of the progress of construction, and the light tower was constructed 10 days before he gave his solution to his client. Meanwhile, the tower collapsed, killing one worker and injuring another.
