AbstractThe article explores some of the ethical challenges that could undermine human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPS) research. It discusses several ethical factors that should be considered when conducting an iPS research. It asserts that human iPS cell research raises new challenges for the process of informed consent in biomedical research. It examines the safety and privacy issues confronted by human iPS cell researchers. It notes that the ethical challenges of ensuring rigorous informed consent and of preventing the excessive lure of therapeutic hope may be especially acute in iPS research.
