| Abstract | The author opposes the proposed adoption of a single-payer system of national health insurance in the U.S. He asserts that single payer is not the best health care reform option since it retains and solidifies the nineteenth century, fragmented, fee-for-service delivery system that provides poor quality care. He also maintains the belief that while single payer proposes to be the most radical reform of the health care financing system, it is conservative when it comes to the broken delivery system. |
