AbstractThe article presents information on a study regarding the children's competence to consent to medical treatment. According to research, children have some understanding and maturity to make decisions about their health care. Children with diabetes should make decisions about diet. Daily management of diabetes highlights the children's intellectual, moral and social competencies because it requires controlling sugar which is a currency and symbol of childhood.
