AbstractA team of geneticists are looking at instances of a birth defect that is rare in the regular population, but has an alarming high occurrence in Community Z, where men must choose their partner within the limitations and rules of the church and within his own community. When the geneticists identify a test that will help identify individuals carrying the gene which causes this birth defect, they worry that this testing will impact future mate selection and somehow intrude on the cultural and religious norms of the community.
