AbstractDr. Ethicos has reviewed a paper for a prestigious journal that has promise but is fraught with problems. After sending back her extensive comments she considers that graduate student in her lab could possibly do some research on the very work described in the paper she reviewed. This case discusses the problems scientist face mentoring students, maintaining reviewer confidentiality, workplace and student-mentor relationships.
