Abstract

This study surveyed faculty of U.S. medical school faculty to assess financial arrangements between investigators and industry to learn about investigators' first hand knowledge of the effects of industry sponsorship on research. The respondents reported compromises were made due to industry influence in the research results in areas such as the the research initiatives, interpretation and publication of results,and even the research participant's well being in some cases. Respondents also indicated that financial relationships with industry were prevalent.
