| Abstract | This book offers social scientists regarding their ethical and legal responsibilities to respond appropriately to threats of harm that may arise during the course of data collection, especially when dealing with high-risk populations. While collecting data, researchers conducting descriptive, non-intervention stdies may be faced wit threats of harm too or by participants, such as suicide, child abuse or violence.
