AbstractThis article describes the development, syllabus, and assessment of a workshop that introduces graduate students to the "survival skills" they need to succeed as professionals. These include writing research articles, making oral presentations, obtaining employment and funding, supervising, and teaching. They also include training in how to handle ethical issues that often emerge in the course of research.
