Abstract

In this short essay, the author explores how to assess student learning in research ethics. The author explores the challenges inherent in this task, realistic expectations and goals for the outcomes of ethics instruction, and suggest a number methods instructors can use to assess student learning, including portfolios, pre and post tests, other methods, and some of the strengths and weaknesses of these methods.
