AbstractWith the expansion of websites publishing hotel reviews by former guests, some hotels are changing their tactics to be sure their properties are rated highly. Instead of improving customer service or investing in their properties, some now rely on strategies to get customers to write flattering reviews, such as offering discounts or even writing bogus reviews. Websites hosting hotel reviews are increasingly having to try and weed out fraudulent reviews, though hoteliers claim that some of the techniques used also filter out legitimate positive customer reviews.
