| Abstract | Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California) is a long-time supporter of immigration reform, especially in the form of guest-worker status. In 2008, she co-sponsored the Ag-Jobs bill which would have given temporary legal status to 1.3 million undocumented farm workers over the next five years. The bill would have helped supply a much-needed labor force for the agriculture industry, and was hailed as a "critical but temporary fix to a much larger problem" by one newspaper article. Other groups, however, are opposed to immigration reform of this kind, saying that it would take away jobs from American Citizens and drive down wages. |
