AbstractThis collection of eleven article discuss the physical, emotional, ethical, and professional dangers the authors encountered in the course of their own qualitative research projects. The stories include commentary on the situations described both by the editors of the anthology, and also by the authors themselves on the kinds of risks and ethical questions that should be anticipated with certain types of qualitative research, such as working with the police or with elderly nursing home residents. The editors seek to help researchers think about the risks that can be present in even seemingly non-risky situations, and discusses ways of successfully dealing with these risks.
