Abstract

This article discusses the importance of providing ethics training for staff members who interact with clients or who have access to confidential client information, and the responsibility of psychologists to provide for this kind of training for their nonprofessional staff. The article discusses what types of ethical and legal issues should be covered in this kind of training and presents some guidelines for designing an ethics program of this kind suitable for outpatient, inpatient, research, or academic clinic settings. It also includes an example outline of what a ethics training program could cover.
