AbstractThe Armone Institute of Gerontology has received a grant from the Department of Aging to complete a survey of the 55+ population of the state. Adds were placed in newspapers for experienced interviewers that noted that the Institute was an "equal opportunity employer." During the hiring process, the senior project investigator argues that two young black candidates for the interviewing positions had to be eliminated from the pool given the incomparability between them and the sample of elderly to be interviewed in that specific region of the state, where a high percentage of affluent white elderly lived. How should the other project investigator respond to this comment? Includes expert commentaries.
