AbstractThis article investigates the important role mentoring can play in the careers of women academics, and draws on the experiences of 17 Australian women academics to investigate how these women construct identities through mentoring The author then discusses what this means both for how we understand the role mentoring plays in professional development in this field for women, and its place as a vehicle for generating more inclusive institutional cultures for women academics.
