Abstract

Mark would like to conduct research for his dissertation at a group home for developmentally disabled persons where he has worked as a social worker for several years. He wants to conduct his dissertation research, and proposes recruiting study participants from the group home he works at. Though the study demands participants go through a number of time-consuming and potentially uncomfortable tests, he thinks that he will easily recruit participants from the group home because individuals living there are extremely eager to please staff. Will this proposal be approved by the Institutional Review Board?
