AbstractProf. Y wrote a book about a piece of work located in a remote country. The owners of the work wanted to read the manuscript before it is published. Prof. Y sends them the manuscript and a letter that says that if she has not heard from them by a certain date, she will assume it is fine for publication. Prof. Y knows that by the time the owners actually receive the manuscript and letter, it will already be past the publication date.
