AbstractWhen a high school hires a data science company to track the use of student ID cards to try and pinpoint causes for the high dropout rate. Based on this data, the company made a number of recommendations for actions the school could take to nudge students toward better attendence and ultimately, graduation. Despite the success of the project, many of the students and student parents objected to the collection and use of the data without their consent.
