AbstractThe article discusses a study related to benchmarking operational and organizational structures and functions of Research Ethics Committees (RECs) in Nigeria. It mentions guidelines to help foster protection of the rights of research participants through application of the informed-consent process in research studies. It also mentions identification of RECs in teaching hospitals, medical centers and other private hospitals.
