AbstractThe author looks at the questions of cultural property, and how property rights of many types hinges on cultural identity. He argues that the definitions of cultural property rights and possession are founded on antiquated and essentialized concepts of cultural continuity and cultural purity, a fact that makes disputes over ownership and management of these kinds of property more and more intense.
