AbstractThe article presents information on CMD-IT (Center for Minorities and people with Disabilities in Information Technology), an organization focused on broadening cultural diversity in the IT field. A pie chart comparing the ethnic makeup of IT faculty to that of the U.S. population is presented, which indicates that people of Asian descent enjoy a very high rate of success as IT teachers, while other minorities are less well represented. A discussion of the importance of cultural diversity is presented, and CMD-IT nationwide leadership initiatives on this issue are described.
