| Abstract | This article discusses how problems in the peer review system arise when peer reviewers give unhelpful, sometimes cutting criticism to authors, rather then helping them improve their manuscript. The article goes on to detail three major problems with the peer review system, the bias of reviewers based on personal motives, the slow nature of the peer review process, and the large number of papers that must be reviewed by reviewers for prestigious journals, and offers some solutions on how these issues could potentially be resolved. |
