AbstractThis paper discusses some guidelines for use with the accepted fundamental canons of ethics for engineers. The authors present some rules of practice and professional obligations emerging from these canons, and discuss basic recommendations for engineers dissenting on ethical grounds. The authors also discuss ethical issues related to biomedical engineering, and look at some cases that can be used for teaching ethics in the biomedical engineering curriculum.
