AbstractJonica Gunson is the environmental compliance manager for a small plastics company. She is currently faced with the decision of whether or not to spend money on new technology that will reduce the level of a particular toxin in the waste water that flows out the back of the factory and into a lake. While the factory's emission levels are within the legal limit, she knows that the environmental regulations for this particular toxin are lagging behind scientific evidence, and if emission levels stay the same the fish from the lake may soon be declared unsafe for human consumption. However, the factory's environmental compliance budget is tight. What should she do?
