Abstract

The paper describes some approaches which can be used to help students develop professional skills and awareness of computer ethics issues in a software engineering class. One of the fundamental issues concerns the student's lack of a framework which would give them context for understanding both software engineering and ethics issues. Dealing with this missing framework is addressed in sections covering team and meeting skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and software quality and process. Specific suggestions for integrating ethics into a software engineering class are described and the paper ends with recommendations and an extensive appendix of related materials
