AbstractDescribes the results of two workshops and a series of studies held at the University of California, Davis in the College of Engineering focusing on issues faced by women engineering students. The studies reveal the major reasons women leave or become discouraged with engineering. From the results of these studies, the Center for Women in Engineering held a series of workshops to help increase faculty awareness of the difficulties women face in engineering and to help generate ideas to use in their own classroom to enhance the learning environment. The article describes the results of the survey and the workshops.
