The author looks at the tensions and connections between engineering ethics and feminist ethics as a way to achieve a new, more inclusive ethics for engineering. She explores the concept of the &quot;moral hero&quot; in engineering who is not only strongly masculine but also very individualistic, and also looks at the classical concept of the &quot;Sibyl&quot; the ancient prophetess or oracle, which may be useful in understanding the historical exclusion of women from technical disciplines, and which may also inspire alternative moral decision heuristics. </style>
<doi><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">10.1109/44.952764</style></doi><issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">3</style></issue></record></records></xml>
