It contains narratives of kidney vendors about their business and what it means to them and their families. They complained about symptoms related to surgical incision like pain and spasms, tiredness, weakness, and shortness of breath while working. Other complaints cited are the feeling of emptiness which resulted to decreased sexual potency and woman's childbearing capacity, and anxiety about the remaining kidney. Some vendors also felt a sense of hopelessness and regret. The study analyzes the relation of poverty and debt in families to vendors involved in the organ commerce and trade in the region. Comments from Renee Fox and Judith Swazey, experts in organ transplantation in the U.S., are presented.</style>
<doi><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">10.1353/hcr.0.0136</style></doi><issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">3</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Article</style></work-type><accession-num><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">40513810</style></accession-num><notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">MOAZAM, FARHAT ZAMAN, RIFFAT MOAZAM JAFAREY, AAMIR M.; Source Info: May2009, Vol. 39 Issue 3, p29; Subject Term: TRANSPLANTATION of organs, tissues, etc.; Subject Term: DONATION of organs, tissues, etc.; Subject Term: ORGANS (Anatomy); Subject Term: COMMERCE; Subject Term: POVERTY; Subject Term: ANXIETY; Subject Term: DESPAIR; Subject Term: REGRET; Subject Term: PUNJAB (Pakistan); Subject Term: PAKISTAN; People: FOX, Renee; People: SWAZEY, Judith; Number of Pages: 16p; Illustrations: 2 Charts; Document Type: Article</style></notes></record></records></xml>
