Based on the empirical research of two PhD studies on gender and project based learning, the authors suggest that problem-based and project-based learning (PBL) method is apt for increasing gender diversity from both the quality and the quantity point of view. The results of these studies suggest that the learning environment along with the establishment of new engineering programmes with more contextualised content would result in increased recruitment of women along with a substantial level of appreciation of learning. </style>
<doi><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">10.1080/03043790903137577</style></doi><issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">5</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Article</style></work-type><accession-num><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">44205111</style></accession-num><notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Xiangyun Du 1; Email Address: xiangyun@plan.aau.dk Kolmos, Anette 1; Affiliation: 1: UNESCO Chair in PBL, Department of Development and Planning, Aalborg University, Denmark; Source Info: Oct2009, Vol. 34 Issue 5, p425; Subject Term: PROJECT method in teaching; Subject Term: ENGINEERING -- Study &amp; teaching; Subject Term: WOMEN engineers; Subject Term: EDUCATIONAL programs; Subject Term: GENDER identity; Subject Term: ACTIVE learning; Subject Term: ENGINEERING students; Subject Term: ENGINEERING schools; Author-Supplied Keyword: diversity; Author-Supplied Keyword: engineering education; Author-Supplied Keyword: gender; Author-Supplied Keyword: PBL; Number of Pages: 13p; Document Type: Article</style></notes></record></records></xml>
