This project aims to improve the quality of the teaching and learning. The activities of this project were planned to give meaning and foundation to the teaching-learning process of science and for the application of theory in the solution of real problems, while articulating scientific, economic, environmental, social and political aspects and also to reinforce the important role of engineering in society. The article describes the different activities for students and teachers including a program encouraging girls to enter the science, technology and engineering field and a specialisation course for teachers based upon new educational methodologies, workshops in different areas of science and technology. </style>
<doi><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">10.1080/03043797.2010.483606</style></doi><issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">3</style></issue><work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Article</style></work-type><accession-num><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">51376774</style></accession-num><notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Villas-Boas, V. 1; Email Address: vvillasboas@yahoo.com; Affiliation: 1: Centro de Ciências Exatas e Tecnologia, Universidade de Caxias do Sul, Caxias do Sul, Brazil.; Source Info: Jun2010, Vol. 35 Issue 3, p289; Subject Term: PROJECT method in teaching; Subject Term: ENGINEERING -- Study &amp; teaching; Subject Term: ACTIVITY programs in education; Subject Term: ACTIVE learning; Subject Term: ACADEMIC enrichment; Subject Term: STUDENT activities; Subject Term: SUPPLEMENTARY education; Subject Term: EDUCATIONAL technology; Subject Term: INDUSTRIAL arts; Author-Supplied Keyword: active and significant learning; Author-Supplied Keyword: continuing teacher education; Author-Supplied Keyword: interdisciplinarity; Number of Pages: 9p; Document Type: Article</style></notes></record></records></xml>
