Abstract

The article discusses research that employs a model of ethics proposed by ethicist Lawrence Kohlberg to examine the ethical values of IT (Information Technology) professionals in the People's Republic of China. Modern information societies depend on the ethical accountability and integrity of IT professionals, the authors state. Kohlberg proposed a theory of Cognitive Moral Development (CMD) that addressed ethical reasoning. Other topics include the impact of China on the world economy and the IT-driven transformation of Chinese businesses.
