Case studies in biomedical research ethics

This book includes 149 biomedical case studies that cover historical case studies such as Tuskegee Syphilis Study and Willowbrook hepatitis studies, and others that focus on current issues such as human embryonic stem cell research and the design and function of institutional review boards. Each chapter begins with a brief introduction. Chapters in the book cover the following: oversight and study design; informed consent; the selection of subjects; conflicts of interest; the social effects of research; embryos, fetuses, and children; genetic research; the use of animals; and authorship and publication.
