Abstract

Commentary from the ombudsman at the University of California, Los Angeles about the challenges of being a whistleblower. The author discusses three major factors of organizational life with which whistleblowing policies are often at varience with, namely, assumptions that colleagues adhere to professional standards, collegiality, and the dynamics of institutional loyalty.
