Projects and Events
The Center for the Study of Ethics in the professions is continually involved in a number of exciting projects, both in IIT and externally funded. Currently CSEP is involved in the construction of the NanoEthicsBank, a database that will contain a diverse range of material relating to the research, development and use of nanotechnology and its ethical implications. The NanoEthicsBank is part of the larger database NanoConnection to Society which, when completed, will be an important resource for researchers, scholars and the general public on current and potential effects of nanotechnology on society. The NanoConnection to Society database is part of the Nanotechnology in Society Project, funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Nanotechnology Initiative.
CSEP is always working on expanding and improving its Codes of Ethics Online collection. Thanks to the help of the Center's dynamic student staff, codes are continually being added to the collection. If you have any codes of ethics you would like to have included in the collection, or wish to report any problems, please contact us with your suggestions.
Many new resources have been added to the CSEP web site, including a large selection on ethics and emerging technologies and nanotechnology. Subject guides for students interested in business, engineering, and marketing ethics have recently been expanded and updated. Feel free to contact the librarian if you have any questions about these resources.
