We requested and were given permission to reprint
each of the codes of ethics found on this site. A copy of the letter
or email is shown below.
| Dear Colleague: We are writing to request copyright permission to reprint your organization's code of ethics on the World Wide Web. The Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions at the Illinois Institute of Technology has received a National Science Foundation grant to put our collection of over 850 codes of ethics on the World Wide Web. We would like permission to include your organization's code of ethics in this project. The project will allow students, researchers, and professionals to search the codes online, study their similarities and differences, and learn more about how a good code is constructed. Your code will be clearly identified as belonging to your organization; the date of issue (if available) will be included. We would like to include earlier editions of your code (again, if available) so that the development of your code over time may be studied. Even if your code is already online, we would like to include it in our Web collection so that the set is complete and completely searchable. Your organization will be notified of the Web address and you will be able to refer inquiries to our collection. Anyone who wants to see or print out a copy of your code will be able to do so easily. We will also include a link to your organization's Web site (if you have one) so that readers may learn more about your organization. The work that a professional organization puts into its code of ethics deserves wide attention. We hope that you will allow us to put your code in our online collection so that interested persons all over the world will have access to your organization's efforts. For your convenience, we have included a template for you to fill out. Your answers will be very much appreciated. Sincerely, Ray Trygstad Co-Principal Investigator Online Ethics Codes Project Illinois Institute of Technology |
