Code of Ethics

  1. An airport executive shall support the safe, efficient and proper fiscal operation of airports and the national air transportation system and adhere to the belief that professional management is the method to achieve this objective.

  2. An airport executive shall recognize that we serve as stewards of a public trust and must be able to give an accounting of our performance at any time.

  3. An airport executive shall be dedicated to the highest ideals of honor and integrity in all public and personal relationships in order that the member may earn and retain the respect and confidence of public officials, employees, and the general public.

  4. An airport executive shall refrain from participation in the election of the members of the employing governmental body and from all partisan political activities which would compromise the performance of a professional executive or the activities and programs of the airport.

  5. An airport executive must recognize that elected and/or appointed officials are responsible for the establishment of airport policies and that policy execution is the responsibility of the airport executive.

  6. An airport executive shall neither seek nor accept any favor, gift or other consideration that might be construed as an attempt to influence or compromise executive judgment or responsibility.

  7. An airport executive shall provide recommendations and proposals to the employing governmental body, supported by well­founded facts and professional advice; allowing the body to adopt sound policies. Once such policies are adopted, to execute them in the most conscientious and expeditious manner possible.

  8. An airport executive shall maintain a free flow of information on aviation matters to public officials, airport users, and the general public, and maintain a fair and impartial balance among the needs and demands of the various airport users, tenants, and traveling public.

  9. An airport executive shall handle personnel matters on the basis of merit in order that fairness and impartiality govern the executives decision pertaining to appointments, salary adjustments, promotions, and discipline.

  10. An airport executive shall strive to continually improve professional competence and ability through education and professional information exchanges, and encourage the professional development of associates and subordinates.
